Would He allow it like our churches do? The bible seems to say that He would get involved and do something.<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark 11:15-18&nbsp;<em><strong>15&nbsp;So they came to Jerusalem. Then Jesus went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold&nbsp;doves.&nbsp;16&nbsp;And He would not allow anyone to carry wares through the temple.&nbsp;17&nbsp;Then He taught, saying to them,&nbsp;\u201cIs it not written,&nbsp;\u2018My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations\u2019? But you have made it a&nbsp;\u2018den of thieves.\u2019&nbsp;\u201d 18&nbsp;And&nbsp;the scribes and chief priests heard it and sought how they might destroy Him; for they feared Him, because&nbsp;all the people were astonished at His teaching<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet our churches do nothing when our government changes laws to allow sin to be legal.&nbsp;J.D. Greear, the pastor of The Summit Church in Raleigh-Durham, NC,&nbsp; , said, \u201cI might be wrong in my opinion on universal healthcare, or I might be wrong in my opinions on global warming, but I\u2019m not wrong about the gospel, and I don\u2019t want to let my opinions on the former ever keep people from hearing me on the latter<strong>. This is exactly why churches should get involves in politics. Churches need to voice their opinions on the laws being passed when the Bible is perverted.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prayer was removed from schools and public places.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sex before marriage was condoned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Abortion was made legal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Divorce was made easier, and half the marriages end in divorce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>.Homosexuality was legal and encouraged.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Same sex marriage was made legal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gender change was allowed, made easier, and accepted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Most churches remained silent and fused to get involved in politics. They were afraid of losing their non-profit tax status.&nbsp;It is time that churches do what Jesus would do and put God first and work to get Godly candidates elected. It\u2019s a scare tactic of the secular Left who seeks to silence and suppress people of faith from voicing their opinions and beliefs.\u00a0In this edition, our team of experts break down six critical facts that you and your religious community need to know during election season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4 Things Churches and Pastors Are Legally ALLOWED to Do During Elections<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The number of things pastors can do during election season far outweigh the number of things they can\u2019t do\u2014in both quantity and importance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<strong>It\u2019s Okay to Speak About Political Issues in the Church<\/strong>. It is a misconception that pastors cannot address political issues\u2014even \u201chot button\u201d issues like abortion, same-sex marriage and gun control\u2014from the pulpit. Any person or entity that attempts to silence a pastor for addressing these issues is violating that pastor\u2019s constitutional rights under the First Amendment. Pastors have every right under the First Amendment to talk about any of those issues, and there\u2019s never been any case in American history that said pastors can\u2019t do that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Historically in America and in many places around the world, government and religion have never been mutually exclusive concepts; rather, they coexist. America\u2019s Founders saw religion as a necessary component to a healthy, moral society\u2014not a taboo topic to bar completely from the political realm; neither was political talk to be barred from churches. Sermons on politics, government and controversial issues were common at our nation\u2019s founding, and popular among pastors and churches on varying sides of the political spectrum.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Religious Leaders Can Educate Their Congregation About Politics&nbsp;<\/strong>Religious leaders are tasked with equipping their congregants in works of service, and that includes representing their faith and morality in the voting booth. Pastors are fully protected when it comes to issues like educating members of their church about the political process, handing out non-partisan voter guides and flyers so members can read about each candidate\u2019s platform, and even providing the opportunity for members to register to vote.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Inviting Political Candidates to Speak at Church is Allowed<\/strong>&nbsp;Contrary to popular belief, pastors and churches can invite political candidates to address their congregation from the pulpit, as long as all the candidates in a race are included in the invitation. What if only one candidate accepts the invitation and shows up? No problem!&nbsp;<strong>Pastors Can <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Participate in Politics in Their Individual Capacity&nbsp;<\/strong>Serving in ministry does not disqualify pastors or other religious leaders from their individual rights as U.S. citizens. Pastors can participate on political campaigns, hold office on political campaigns, and even endorse a candidate in their individual capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2 Things Religious Leaders CANNOT Do During Elections<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>According IRS regulations, there are only two things that pastors and churches, when classified as a 501(c)(3) organization, cannot do&nbsp;<strong>A <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Church Entity May Not Endorse One Candidate Over Another&nbsp;<\/strong>This does not mean that a pastor\u2014in his individual capacity as an American citizen\u2014may not endorse one candidate over another. A 501(c)(3) church or organization may not, however, endorse one candidate over another or be publicly against one candidate over the other.&nbsp;<strong>Church <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>May Not Give its Money to One Candidate Over Another&nbsp;<\/strong>This doesn\u2019t mean that pastors or church members, in their individual capacities as American citizens, cannot donate to the political campaign of their choice. They can even be the Campaign Chair for a candidate if they want. But an official 501(c)(3) organization may not donate church funds or resources to one political candidate over another. Of course, this is not something we have ever seen churches desiring to do.&nbsp;AGM is helping to organize Godly churches.
